This video> (2:08 minutes) gives an overview of the DESS interface including a quick look at map navigation, node and line tooltips, up and downstream tracing, showing node and element data dialogs, reference data, and checking system connectivity for loops or disconnected items.

Creating a Node
This video (14 seconds) shows how to create a new node.
Creating a Line
This video (32 seconds) shows how to create a new line between nodes.
Inserting a Node into a Line
This video (18 seconds) shows how to insert a new node into an existing line.
Moving Nodes and Lines
This video (43 seconds) shows how to move existing nodes or lines to a new location.
Selecting Nodes and Lines
This video (1:47 minutes) shows the basic mechanics for selecting both individual and multiple nodes and lines. It includes use of the Ctrl and Alt keys in selection, the rectange and polygon select tools and the Invert Selection and Select All commands.
Advanced Selection
This video (2:30 minutes)shows how to use the Custom Select command from the Query menu and also how to use the Selected pane of the sidebar.
Using the Sidebar
This video (1:12 minutes) demonstrates how to switch between tabs on the sidebar, resize the sidebar and turn the auto-hide feature on or off.
